The reason for the case was the trip of Ivanov and Terekhov to Sudzh in August 2024, when the border city in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation was under the control of the Armed Forces. Along with them was another journalist whose name remained anonymous and unknown Russian security forces. Peter Ivanov’s parents were summoned for questioning.

After the trip, the publication published text, photo and video reports. It is noted that journalists did not cover military operations; They reported the lives of civilians abandoned by Russia.

In 2024, according to the Foundation “Media Protection Center”, at least 45 journalists became accused of criminal cases. 12 of them were put forward against foreign journalists who covered events in the settlements of Kursk region, which were under the control of the Ukrainian army at that time.
