Ukrainian business urged the government to appoint a chosen director of Bab

Business Associations of Ukraine called President Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister Denis Schmigal to review the Cabinet’s decision on non-identification of the Director of the Bureau of Economic Security (Bab), elected according to the results of the competition.

This is stated in the relevant statement.

A statement signed by more than a dozen business associations stresses that Bab’s reform is one of the key requirements of both Ukrainian business and international partners.

“Illegal force pressure on business in the traditions of a notorious” tax police “remains one of the key factors for reducing Ukraine’s investment attractiveness, and as a result, a significant limitation of labor productivity, budget revenues, real wages, employment,” the statement reads.

Business representatives emphasize that in war, the country needs a stable business climate and the rule of law. Failure to comply with reform promises can affect entrepreneurs’ investment sentiment and further policy by Ukraine’s international partners.

Business communities are urging the Government to appoint a candidate chosen by the competition commission as soon as possible to confirm Ukraine’s dedication to the principles of transparency, law and order and international obligations.

The signatories include the European Business Association, the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, CEO Club Ukraine and other organizations.
