In the occupied Sevastopol, the Russian court sentenced to 17 years the imprisonment of a local resident Vadim Sorolokoletov, whom the security forces of the Russian Federation were accused of “State Trease”. According to the project of Radio Liberty “Crimea.Realia”, the press service of the Russian prosecutor’s office in Sevastopol reported on July 8.

According to the prosecution, in September 2023, a 37-year-old man allegedly contacted the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for “carrying out intelligence and sabotage and terrorist activity in Russia.”

“On the same day, he took photographing and gathered information about the place of deployment of the object of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and then published these data in a chat contact with the purpose of promoting a foreign special service in activities aimed at the safety of the Russian Federation,” the statement reads.

According to the human rights organization Crimean, at least 56 Crimeans were persecuted by the Russian authorities in 2024. The reasons for criminal cases were accusations of alleged relations with the prohibited organizations in the Russian Federation, state treason, espionage, public utterances, organizing sabotage or calls for violence.
