Last year, NATO revised its defensive plans that determine the Alliance’s response to any potential attack. But these plans rely largely on American weapons, air forces and tens of thousands of US servicemen.

NATO’s eastern flank is especially nervous due to the possible sudden withdrawal of US troops. Some of these countries unofficially urge NATO to accelerate negotiations to revise defense plans to start preparing for a possible significant reduction in the role of the United States.

It is expected that the withdrawal of US troops will have a serious impact on major US military bases in Germany and Italy.
