Actor and stuntman Bob Elmore’s death has been announced (Picture: Facebook) Pirates of the Caribbean actor Bob Elmore has died at the age of 65.
The stuntman and actor, who also appeared uncredited as Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, had his death announced publicly by co-star Caroline Williams.

Elmore played the Executioner in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End opposite star Johnny Depp after appearing as a stunt performer in the original, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in 2003.
His extensive Hollywood resume also included playing Bodyguard #1 in The Usual Suspects, as well as his stunt doubling on Uncle Buck with John Candy, and general stunt work on the likes of Casino, City of Angels, Being John Malkovich and Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment.
He portrayed the Executioner in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End after appearing as as a stuntman in the first (Picture: Disney) Horror Realm Con also paid tribute to the performer, writing on Facebook: ‘Awful news coming out that Bob Elmore has passed away. We were fortunate to have him as a guest at Horror Realm a few years back.’
The statement continued: ‘He was actually booked for 2026 but we have not announced any guests yet. We are sorry we won’t have a chance to be with him one more time. Our condolences to Bob’s family.’

Elmore shared the role of Leatherface with credited actor Bill Johnson in the popular horror sequel, which garnered him a legion of lifelong fans.
Many of them shared their memories of Elmore as they absorbed the news.
‘So sad to hear, meeting you and Bob last year was one of my highlights of the year. Bob was an incredibly kind soul and I’m happy to have had the chance to meet him,’ posted Douglas Little in the comments section of Williams’ post.
‘Absolutely gutted. An honour and privilege to meet him only a few months ago here in the U.K.,’ shared fan @j.horror87. ‘What a gentleman, a giant of a man and the most epic white beard. My favourite Bubba ❤️ rest easy sir.’
‘Man this one hurts,’ shared Johnny Cooper, while John Tittermary added: ‘Absolute king, one of the greatest Leatherface [sic.] there ever was.’
‘I’m literally at work crying right now after hearing this. Bob was the man,’ shared Nate Hewitt.
A Hollywood stuntman since 1985, Elmore also worked on The Monster Squad, Nothing But Trouble and Mr Giggles.
Per Bloody Disgusting, he started his career working at Knott’s Berry Farm on California theme park’s Wild West Stunt Show before being taught formally by Gene LeBell in the profession at Los Angeles City College.
‘Just to be recognised for working in this little, itty bitty movie that brought pleasure to so many people — and there’s some people that really, really, really enjoyed it,’ Elmore said of playing Leatherface in a 2016 interview from Scream Factory’s Blu-ray release of Chainsaw Massacre.
‘I don’t understand. I don’t have that passion for that kind of movie, but there’s a lot. And it’s worldwide, it’s not here in the United States. People in Germany love Texas Chainsaw Part 2. They just love it, and they’re crazy about it.
‘That’s what is so unique about it, and to be associated with that is great. Not too many people can say that.’
