RheinMetall supplies the components of the American company Northrop Grumman, which previously produced the central sections of fuselage consisting of about 300,000 separate parts in the US. Germany ordered 35 F-35 aircraft. They are designed to replace the outdated Tornado fighters of the German Armed Forces.
In normal mode, 30 central sections of fuselage are planned to be produced in the vest with the possibility of additional changes.
“We want to produce up to 36 such major components for the most universal and most powerful fighter in the world here, in Vese,” Papperger said, expressing confidence that Germany will also place further orders.
The construction of a two -ton central section is a complex process. After a number of technical preparatory works and various stages of production, the first central section should be staged in the fall of 2026. It will be sent to the United States, where the fighter will be collected from all other components and will become invisible to radars.
Currently, 200 people are working at the plant, and by the fall of 2026 their number will increase to more than 400. Rheinmetall has a framework agreement for the construction of 400 central parts of Fuselage F-35 for 17-20 years.
What was before:
- In May, it became known that the Latvian government was negotiating with RheinMetall on the production of defense equipment within the country.
