The Government of Ukraine sets out in the state budget for 2026 expenditures per sector of security and defense in the amount of 1.8 trillion hryvnias. Such a step is conditioned by the need to maintain the country’s defense in a long war and global instability – these costs remain the main priority of the state’s financial policy.

According to the budget declaration, for 2027 this area provides 1,439 trillion UAH, and for 2028 – 1.384 trillion UAH, and such volumes are possible only if the security situation is significantly improved. In the amount of 2026, more than UAH 134 billion was taken into account for the purchase of weapons, military equipment, weapons and ammunition.

In terms of ceasefire in 2026, there is a challenge for the Government of Ukraine to maintain defense and military potential for reprimanding the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine
