This victory was for Wilder (44–4–1, 43 KOs) only in six battles since 2020. After the battle, the former champion in the high weight stressed that he was not going to deviate from his plan: two more heating matches in 2025 and a great battle in 2026.
Wilder was able to recover from two consecutive defeats – from Joseph Parker in 2023 and Zhang Zhjilei in June 2024. In the battle with Hernodon, he sent his opponent to knockdown twice – in the second and sixth rounds, and in the seventh referee stopped the fight.

There is a lot of work ahead so that I can truly say that I was back.
Next fight? It can be Joshua. If the battle is organized – we will be ready. There is a lot of money, but it’s not just about money – everything should be right. We are in painful business. When we are ready – everyone will find out. We move step by step. But I came back. I only ask for a little patience. I came back, baby. And immediately after returning home – back into the hall. ”
In September, Wilder will be 40 years old, but he does not give up ambition again to become a champion – especially now when he has coped with mental health problems. According to him, the next battle can take place in September – a possible venue – South Korea.
Another match is planned for December. In 2026, he wants to go to a great battle – the ideal option he calls the confrontation with Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO), which fans have been waiting for more than seven years.
