The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed the new chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory of the Historian, TV presenter and military Alexander Alfarov.
The corresponding decision was published on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.
Alfyorov’s appointment has become an important event for the sphere of preservation of historical memory, as the institute plays a key role in shaping national identity and implementation of state memory policy.
Alexander Alfyorov is a well -known scientist, candidate of historical sciences, researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine of the NAS of Ukraine.
He also has considerable experience in the media – since 2008 he has been the radio prescription of Ukrainian radio “Culture”, and since 2019 has been conducting author programs on UA: Culture.
In addition, Alfyorov is actively engaged in the popularization of history, is the author of the popular science YouTube channel and the founder of “Historical Radio”.
In Alfyorov’s professional biography – participation in numerous scientific projects, organization of international conferences, as well as cooperation with leading Ukrainian and foreign scientific institutions.
Among its achievements are the discovery of unknown historical facts, including the Metropolitan of Kiev, as well as the finding in the archives of the Copies of the “Philip Orlyk Constitution”. He is the author of the coat of arms of Chernyakhiv district of Zhytomyr region and a curator of the exhibition “Svyatoslav Brave: The Spirit of the Epoch”.
It is also worth noting the military experience of the new head of the Institute-since 2022, Alexander Alfyorov serves in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular in the Azov-Kyiv units and the 3rd separate assault team, where he is engaged in humanitarian training and information support.
His activity at the front is combined with active participation in public life – Alfyorov is a member of the High Council of the Political Party “National Corps” and the head of the All -Ukrainian campaign “Memory of the Nation”.
