Poroshenko in Turkey gave a million dollars to children – “Investigation.Info”

The People’s Deputy and leader of the European Solidarity Party 5th President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared expenditures for a gift of $ 1 million in Turkey.

Details: In early May, according to the NAPC Declaration Register, Poroshenko announced significant changes in the property status, which indicated that on April 28 he gave UAH 41.7 million ($ 1 million in the current rate – ed.) In Turkey. The People’s Deputy also noted that on April 25, a few days earlier, he paid UAH 237 860 for accommodation in Turkey. It is unknown from the declaration to whom Poroshenko gave money and whose residence was paid.

The press service of the European Solidarity Party, at the request of the publication, reported that Poroshenko made a gift to children. However, they did not indicate who exactly and why in Turkey.

“Amendments to Petro Poroshenko’s declaration were made in connection with the gift for children from declared funds,” the press service said.

When asked about the purpose of the trip to the press service that Poroshenko went on a business trip to the German city of Visbaden to participate in the meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council of Ukraine (from April 23 to April 24) and to Valencia (Spain) for the annual Congress of the European People’s Party (from 28 to 30 April).

As for Turkey, the press service stated that Poroshenko was “at the invitation of the former foreign minister, a deputy of Parliament, the head of the Turkish delegation at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly of Mevluta Chavushoglu, where he negotiated with Turkish officials, in particular.”

The press service did not indicate the exact dates of the visit, but obviously Poroshenko came to Turkey between events in Visbaden and Valencia.

Journalists tried to verify the words of the party, since no mention of a visit to Turkey was stated in Public Communication and “Euro Solidarity”.

Investigation.Info wrote the former Turkish Foreign Minister Mevluti Chavushaglu asking him to confirm this information, but did not receive answers.

Also, despite the appeal of journalists, in the press service of the EU Party did not provide any photos of the working visit of Poroshenko.

Prehistory:

• On February 13, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against Petro Poroshenko. He was assigned 17 sanctions, mainly economic. It is about blocking assets, trade restrictions, prohibition on defense purchases and land purchase. Poroshenko was also deprived of state awards, forbidden to participate in privatization, use radio frequencies and send funds abroad. The sanctions are imposed indefinitely.
• The Presidential Decree explains these actions by the fact that Poroshenko, “posed a threat to national security and promoted terrorist activity.” Poroshenko himself called sanctions illegal, politically motivated and sued.
• In May, the National Bank recognized Poroshenko with a “unwell business reputation”. That same month, the court in Vinnytsia region began the case of the distribution of joint property of Poroshenkov – by more than UAH 17.1 billion.
• The European Solidarity Party stated that the claim for property distribution is a joint tactics for the protection of the family “from Zelensky’s attempts to block Petro Poroshenko, the opportunity to finance assistance to the Armed Forces and political activities.”
• On May 16, the court closed the case because it did not find the subject of the dispute.
