Details: In total, 1000 respondents were interviewed who asked if Slovakia should become a neutral country. The question explained that “neutrality means exit from NATO and resistance exclusively to its own army.”

According to the survey, 50.6% opposed the neutrality of Slovakia, 30.8% – for, 16.1% – did not determine, and 2.5% refused to answer.
The results varied depending on the political preferences of voters. Among the voters of the opposition against neutrality, 70% to 98% spoke. Instead, 58% of the Fitzo Smer-SD Party and 67% of the SNS far-right voters said they support the idea of neutrality.
The voters of the second largest coalition party, the left party “Voice” were more ambiguous: 42% opposed neutrality, and 27% did not decide.
It is known that Fitzo stated that neutral status would be profitable for his country in the current international situation.
In response, President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini called Fitzo’s statement “a provocative idea that is overwhelmed by the public space.”
