The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina (WTA 14) won the starting match at the WTA 500 grass tournament in Bad-Homburg, Germany.

In the first round, a Ukrainian in two sets beat the representative of Belgium Eliza Mertens (WTA 24) in 1 hour 28 minutes.

In the first party, Elina was inferior to 4: 5 (15:40) at the reception, but took 12 Points in a row (played two setballs) and closed the set. At the start of the second party, the meeting had to be interrupted for a short time because one of the fans in the stands became ill and had to provide medical assistance.

Svitolina conducted the eighth face confrontation against Mertens and won the fifth victory (with three defeats). The next rival of Elina will be the winner of the match Van Sinwy (China, WTA 49) – Beatris Maya (Brazil, WTA 21).

The Ukrainian was also interrupted by Westerik Mertens, who made five matches. On June 15, Eliza became a champion in Gertogenbos competitions.

For Elina it was the first match on the grass in 2025 and the first match from Rolan Harros, where in the 1/4 finals she was defeated by Iga Swontek. Svitolina is preparing for Wimbledon-2025, which will start next week.
