Details: Before that, Shapovalov was in the post of commander of the troops of the operational command “South”. He left this position in February 2025. In March 2022 he received the rank of brigade general.

In January 2025, the President said that he appoints Shapovalova to work with partners in Visbaden and coordinate security assistance to Ukraine.
Reference: Gennady Shapovalov was born in 1978 in the Kirovograd region. In 2000 he graduated with honors at the Institute of Tank Troops at Kharkiv State Polytechnic University, and in 2012, as well as with honors-the command and staff institute of use of troops (forces) of the National University of Defense of Ukraine.
He passed a military career from a tank platoon commander to the commander of a separate infantry brigade named after Jacob Gandziuk, in March 2022 he received the title of Brigade General.
Prehistory:
- On June 1, Russian troops struck a rocket strike under the Armed Forces Land Forces Educational Unit – at least 12 killed and more than 60 wounded are known.
