Ballistic missiles are more powerful than winged and have a high speed. The Ukrainian “Sapsan” reached a speed of 5.2 strokes during the tests, or approximately 6370 km/h. At the same time, the American ATCMS has a speed of about 3 maches, and Russian “Iskander-M”-about 6 makhs.
An important advantage of ballistic missiles is the parabolic flight trajectory, which significantly complicates its interception by conventional anti-aircraft missile complexes.
“In practice, even the old American Ballistic missiles of ATACMS have been proven that the enemy could not intercept,” Badrak said.
Sapsan has already been used for the first time in May 2025. Then the rocket destroyed the Russian military object at a distance of about 300 kilometers.
The analyst added that now Sapsan will go to mass production, because there are no obstacles for this.
From the technical characteristics of the rocket it is also known that it carries a fighting part weighing 480 kg. For comparison, the mass of the battle part in the already mentioned ATACMS is 227 kg.
“So it can be assumed that Ukraine is already on the way to rocket extension, and this is important not only for the present, but also for the future of the state and the nation,” – summed up the expert.
