The National Bank of Ukraine has officially announced the activation of fraudsters who send emails allegedly on behalf of the NBU.
The attackers simulate formal correspondence using the NBU’s designations and the name of the NBU. However, the true purpose of these messages is to spread harmful programs that can harm the recipients.
The particular danger is the attachment in such letters – they contain viruses or other harmful elements. The fraudsters send messages from different e-mail addresses, but the signature indicates a fake e-mail similar to the real one: “[email protected]”.
This misleads many users who can accept a letter of the official document from the National Bank.
The NBU emphasized that employees of the institution for official correspondence use exclusively corporate mail with the domain@Bank.gov.ua. If the recipient sees another address, it is a clear sign of fraud.
Bank experts advise not to open files added to suspicious letters, or not to go to any links contained in such messages.
We will remind, in Ukraine there was a new fraudulent scheme, under which fraudsters are exposed to law enforcement officers and accused the victims of treason.
