“The President is still ready to communicate with Kim Jong -in and would like to see the further progress made during Singapore’s summit,” Levitt said in response to a question about the media message stating that Trump allegedly tried to send a letter to Kim Jong -in, but he refused to accept it.
In early April, Trump did not rule out that “at some point” could contact North Korea, and again said that he had a “very good relationship” with Kim Jong -in.
After that, according to the media, the US administration began to discuss further steps to establish communication with the DPRK.
