The main neighbor of Ukraine – Poland has chosen a new president. Although Karol Navrotsky represents a political force that has previously treated Kiev, there are some warnings for our country. About what to expect from the new head of Poland – Briefly about told Political Viewer Igor Tyshkevich.

Ukraine’s support will be maintained – Karol Navrotsky during his election campaign quite often operated on anti -Ukrainian narratives, but now He talks about good relations with Ukraine. What should we really expect from him?

– It is worth expecting more attention to the issues of historical memory and to protect the Polish market from Ukrainian products.

– But he publicly supported the anti -Ukrainian requirements of the Polish far -right, such as the NATO’s inability to Ukraine …

– And he said that the support of Ukraine was in the interests of Poland itself. Here is the keyword – “Support”. And in general, every society has its own far -right party, but Navrotsky is not a far -right politician, he communicates with moderate right voters.

Each country has right parties for which national interest is value. And the President of Poland, or not, we will talk about Polish national interests, not Ukrainian. The president of any state must first talk about the interests of his own state. Because if he talks about the interests of a neighboring state, in the Criminal Code of each country, this is called a state betrayal.

– With historical issues, will there be any problems again or not?

– Of course, Navrotsky as a right politician will pay attention to the issues of historical memory. It is natural for him, given his voter, and he cannot refuse it. No wonder he worked at the Polish Institute of National Memory. Because it is close to him that he was doing and this is his interest, his voters. Therefore, it is natural that it will be an extremely important topic for him.

– How can this worsen our relationship with Poland?

-In any case, we will have problematic issues with Poland that have not been resolved to this day. First, yes, if we mentioned the problem of historical memory, then it is very borrowed today. Unfortunately, Ukraine and Poland have not translated this problem into the sphere of discussions exclusively by historians on their mutual track.

Historical differences (the theme of the Volyn tragedy) was actively pedagogical during the election races. Photo: FB Karol Navrotsky

Poland will remain the main hub of Ukraine – And why not translated?

– So this is a two -sided direction, it should be a movement from both sides.

– But the current President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that he does not like, that Ukrainians with some “Bandera emblems” come to him?

– I emphasize again that in the political sphere historical issues have no solution. Our politicians will talk about pacification (eviction of Ukrainians during the Vistula Operation in the 1940s), about the heroic resistance of this, Poles-about Bandera and so on. And it will be until the politicians are sitting and saying: okay, we agree without these issues, let’s miss them.

– So Ukraine has already granted Poland permission to exhumulate the Poles’ tragedy during the Volyn tragedy …

– Again, you do not need to translate this question into a rank of politics and try to get some political dividends from it. Let it remain historians. Why measure the number of graves?

– Until recently, Poland was the main logistics hub of all deliveries to Ukraine. With the new president, will this remain or not?

– This will not change in any way. Because Poland as a hub for Ukraine is also exclusively in Polish economic, political and military interests. Failure to do so, first, Poland loses earnings and receives a problem if Ukraine can fall. Of course, Poland will remain this hub. But from the point of view of trade, Warsaw will ask very sharp questions about various semi -contract schemes from Ukraine and will resist pricing of agricultural products from our country. In particular, quotas, sales restriction in the Polish market. Yes, we will have some problems here, and Kiev will need to negotiate with Warsaw on quotas and restrictions on the sale of Ukrainian products in the Polish market.

Poland is a friend but economic “chemistry” is more important – Now in Poland, such a wave has risen that the Ukrainians seemed to settle the country, and this causes indignation in the Poles.

– That’s the least one should be afraid of this, so are Ukrainians. Our fellow countrymen actually help Warsaw to reflect from the quotas imposed by the European Union to receive migrants from third countries – the Middle East, Africa, Asia. Therefore, Poland will continue to complain about European quotas against migrants, and in fact will only accept Ukrainians. This is called – managing migration policy. Warsaw wants to choose who to take.

For the Poles, it is better for Ukrainians than the uncontrolled Islamists from the Middle East. They are at least a lower threat, in terms of security. One thing is Syria, the other is Ukraine. In general, Poland will stimulate that Ukrainians work, work legally, pay taxes and spend that money in Poland. This means that there will be no problems for this category of Ukrainians.

But other Ukrainians, who live semi -legal, will not be evicted. They will be stimulated to work. If you work, there will be no problems.

– Does Poland really try to conflict with the European Union?

– Each EC country has its own policy, and that does not mean to quarrel with Brussels in general. They are not going to leave European society. For example, the same Germany is actively promoting the idea of German exports. It does not like many other countries, but it does not quarrel with all European countries. France refuses to go to the “green” program and does not stop its nuclear electricity. This is simply called independence and sovereignty within the EU. And that’s normal.

– As you think the difference between Navrotsky, who became President of Poland and Hungarian Prime Minister of ORB An, because they have already been called local “Trumps”?

– It is enough to look at the programs of the parties of these leaders. Poland always supported Ukraine, and Hungary said ten years ago that it would be in every possible way to prevent Kiev through its policy in Transcarpathia. Back in 2016, Orban said, if there is no linguistic weakening for the Hungarians, they will block Ukraine and NATO. And in bilateral relations it is necessary to look for the possibilities of dialogue.
