Ukraine plans to join OECD next year – Shmigal

Ukraine continues to implement reforms aimed at strengthening the economy and creating a foundation to enter the club of developed countries, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said. “We are expecting to join the OECD next year,” the head of the government said.

Schmigal reminded that in 2023, the OECD program for Ukraine was launched in Paris, and at the same time Kiev started a dialogue for joining the organization. In these two years, according to him, Ukraine, together with the OECD, launched 23 events and joined eight legal instruments.

In particular, the Prime Minister, the Government:

  • He created and launched anti -corruption infrastructure, “practically implemented the state anti -corruption program, which is 80% meet the OECD criteria”
  • scaled digitalization
  • Conducts “comprehensive deregulation” – already canceled up to 2,000 regulatory tools
  • “Has success” in the implementation of OECD standards in the field of privatization and corporatization, privatization revenues exceeded the planned 2.5 times.

“As a result of our reforms, the experience of daily corruption of Ukrainians has decreased from 70% to 15% in recent years. It is an indicator that changes the paradigm of state development from post -Soviet to European, ”the Prime Minister added.

In November 2023 The Government has approved a plan of implementation measures Programs of Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development for Ukraine.

At that time, Prime Minister Denis Schmigal called Ukraine’s membership in the OECD Marker of readiness to join the European Union and a signal for foreign companies that “our country is a promising place for investment.”
