US Presidential Administration Donald Trump is trying to force the Republican Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to mitigate a bill on sanctions against Russia, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The sources of the newspaper have said that in recent weeks the White House and other officials of the administration have contacted the Graham office and called for it to mitigate the bill.

It is suggested that Trump would allow Trump to choose who or that falls under sanctions. In addition, Graham was offered to replace the words “should” “can” in the text of the bill, thus eliminating the mandatory nature of orders.

According to WSJ, any administration asks to amend high-profile laws, often seeking formulations that give the President more powers to make decisions. However, according to the interlocutors of the newspaper, it will do it to the “toothless” bill. They added that Trump was already able to impose sanctions at his discretion.

Co-author of the bill, senator-democrat Richard Blumental, confirmed WSJ holding private negotiations with the White House, but refused to comment on their essence.

The bill, which has already been supported by 82 senators, provides for the imposition of sanctions on key Russian officials and sectors. It also envisages the introduction of 500 percent duties on countries that buy Russian oil, gas and uranium.

According to WSJ, Trump fears that this bill can harm his attempts to improve relations between the US and Russia.
