The topic of inequality of prize between men and women regularly appears on a tennis agenda. The British Tennis Federation decided to take a clear position in this matter and announced that tennis players would receive the same prizes as their male counterparts, in the tournaments in the UK capital and Istborne no later than 2029.
“We want to achieve the equality of prizes as soon as possible,” said LTA Scott Lloyd in the press release. “The LTA Federation is devoted to the development of women’s tennis both at the professional and local levels, and this solution is an important step in this direction.”
The WTA 250 tournament in Eastborne will take place from June 23 to June 28 – a week before Wimbledon. The WTA 500 women’s tournament in London will be held in the first week of the herbal season – from June 9 to June 15.
