Ukraine, like a number of other countries on this day, celebrates the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. He was established in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine of September 17, 2004 in order to support the initiative of state authorities, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, public and religious organizations and, taking into account the historical and educational significance of the Heritage of Slavic primal teachers in the achievement of national culture.
The Day of Slavic Writing and Culture is also celebrated in Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and in a number of other countries. By 2023, this number was the day of memory of the Holy Apostolic Cyril and Methodius, which are considered the developers of the Cyrillic alphabet and the first to translate the liturgical books in Slavic.
