The large -scale project for the restoration of drinking water supply in Nikolaev is planned to be completed by the end of the summer of 2025.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities have chosen the fastest implementation of the project-financing from the state budget, which will allow to complete the construction in 6-8 months, instead of 2-3 years in case of attracting funds of the International Investment Bank.
The project involves the construction of three points of water intake from the Southern Bug River. To implement this large -scale project, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution on allocation of UAH 8 billion on February 7.
Initially, the cost of construction was estimated at 8.8 billion hryvnias, but later it was possible to reduce to 5 billion, while improving the project itself – a new modern water intake and partial converters were added.
Currently, the Nikolaev receive technical salty water, which corrodes pipes, and drinking water is taken from special issues, which are about 200 in the city. Due to the use of water from the South Building estuary, and later from Ingulets, the number of accidents on the water supply has increased five times.
The city government also plans to increase the funding of the Affordable Water Program to UAH 80.7 million in 2025, which is 16.5 million more than in 2024.
