Photo WikipediaThe Active Group Research Company has published the 3rd All-Ukrainian Rating of Higher Education Art Institutions (for the 2024-2025 academic year).
The winner of the rating was the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after Peter Tchaikovsky for the third time. The Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts took second place, the third – Kharkiv State Academy of Culture.
The main mission of the rating is the evaluation of artistic educational institutions, since existing ratings are designed for classical HIVs and do not take into account the unique aspects of art education and features of evaluation of art institutions.
The rating methodology was developed within the framework of the joint research work of Active Group, the Institute of Higher Education and the Vadim Hetman KNEU Institute of Sociological Research (2024). In general, the rating has been included 14 Higher education institutions that are subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
Artistic institutions of higher education were analyzed according to 45 parameters grouped into six blocks: “Teaching and Learning”, “Science and Research”, “Impact of the LAU on the Development of Society”, “Internationalization”, “Institutional Reputation”, “Financial Stability”. The share of each group of indicators and the weight of each single criterion was determined on the basis of an analysis of world experience and adjusted by the results of expert survey of representatives of the field of art education.
It should be noted that Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine is the only art institution of Ukraine that is included in the top 100 of the best artistic institutions in the world and the TOP-74 in Europe at the most prestigious and authoritative international QS World University Rankings: Performing ARTS 2025.
Researchers plan to continue such an evaluation of artistic ZVOs to monitor the dynamics of the development of Ukrainian art education institutions. The project team invites everyone to join the development of rating, in particular, improving the criteria for evaluating artistic institutions.
