Former Australian tennis player Elena Dokich announced the death of her father Damir. Farewell, she said, proved to be “difficult”, given the long -term violence and cruelty, which marked their relationships during the years of her sports career.

“As you know, my relationship with my father was complex and painful, with many incidents. I have very contradictory emotions.

Despite all this, despite the fact that our relationships were so difficult, and even if we have not talked for ten years, it is never easy to lose one of the parents, even whom you moved away, ”42-year-old Elena Dokich wrote on her Instagram page.

Dokich, who was born in Croatia and became the fourth racket of the WTA world rank in 2002, said earlier that she had been persecuted and beating by her father, who was her first coach. She has also been recognized in the episodes of depression caused by his authoritarian behavior and psychological violence. Damir Donich has repeatedly conflicted with tennis organizations and organizers of tournaments through outbreaks of aggression and sharp statements.

During her career, Elena Dokich won six WTA titles and reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2000. However, her main achievement remains a sensational victory in 1999, when she was qualified in the first round of Wimbledon with a score of 6: 2, 6: 0 Swiss Martin Hingis, the first racket of the world. Then she was only 16 years old, and it was her debut at the tournament. After this victory, she was called the future star of world tennis – a status that she could not fully confirm.
