Google showed XR Glasses / Photo – GoogleOn Google I/O 2025, the company presented the Android XR glasses, a mixed reality device that will work on Android and complement the smartphone, turning it into a companion that can be used without hands.
The glasses are equipped with microphones, speakers and optional display directly in the lenses. The device has a camera, navigator and translator from any language.
In addition, Android XR integrated GEMINI artificial intelligence from Google, which you can talk to voice. The neural network has access to the camera, so it “sees” the world through the eyes of the user.
Google emphasizes that the transition to a new device format requires not only functionality, but also the desire to wear such a gadget daily. Therefore, the development of fashion brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster participate in the development.
From a technical point of view, Android XR is still in the active testing phase and Google continues to collect feedback.
In parallel, Google works with Xreal over the second device based on Android XR. Moohan project remains in the development, whose release is expected by the end of the year.
Earlier, we said that a neural network in Google AI OverViews is now working in Ukraine. The extension collects information from different sites on the user’s request.
