During the St. Petersburg International Forum in Russia, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Dmitry Gara said that five Kalinowski regiment heads (made mainly of the Belarusians of the Armed Forces) were sentenced to 12 to 20 years of imprisonment in special colonies. They are abroad and convicted in absentia.

125 people who, according to the Investigative Committee, are related to the Kalinovsky Regiment, were wanted by six.

“Participants in the riots (it is about the protests of 2020 after the election of the President of Belarus – Ed.), Who have escaped abroad, created nationalist armed forces in Ukraine and Poland. These include the Kalinowski Regiment, the Belarusian Volunteer Corps and others that operate under the supervision of foreign special services, ”Gara said.

In February 2022, after the start of a full -scale Russian invasion, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the formation of a separate unit of territorial defense – an international legion for foreigners who want to “join security in Europe and the world”.

The Kalinowski Regiment consists of volunteers from Belarus. It was formed in March 2022.
