If he now refuses to mediate in peace talks, the result will be “an endless continuation of the cruel war; the constant threats of the territory, sovereignty and democracy of Ukraine; and another blow to Trump’s dream will seem a diplomatic mediator,” Forign Policy writes.
However, there is an alternative way out that the American leader should arrange, the newspaper writes. It is to convey to Russia what loss it will suffer if it continues to go the current way.
“It would be wiser to check for Trump that even a little greater pressure on Moscow – without the need for large -scale financial obligations to the United States, which he opposes, can help put an end to the war,” the article reads.
Four steps to restart Trump’s failure policyFirst. According to FP, Trump could support a new two -party package of sanctions against Russia developed in the Senate to strengthen economic pressure on Moscow. Russia’s economy is already under high stress, growth is supported only by military expenditures, constant ambiguous inflation and 21 percent interest rates.
