Obtaining such status is regulated by several normative legal documents.
The Ministry of Defense explained the order of receipt of UBD by foreigners / UNIAN collage, photo UNIAN, UA.DEPOSITPPHOTOS.comForeigners and stateless persons who are military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service may obtain the status of a combatant (UBD).
According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, obtaining such status is regulated by several normative legal documents.
In particular, according to the Law “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of their Social Protection”, participants of hostilities are recognized as military personnel of the Armed Forces, who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and were directly involved in the measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, protect the security of Ukraine and the interests of the state.
At the same time, as explained in the Ministry of Defense, foreigners and stateless persons who, in accordance with the Law “On Military Duty and Military Service” are in military service in the Armed Forces in the Ministry of Defense.
“Given the above, foreigners whose activities meet the requirements of these laws can obtain the status of a combatant. They must adhere to the same procedures as citizens of Ukraine,” – explained the director of the Ministry of Defense Department, Colonel Sergei Galimsky.
UBD benefitsAccording to UNIAN, participants of hostilities (UBD) in Ukraine have a number of benefits from the state. Among them is early retirement. How much they retire UBD in Ukraine, how the length of service is accrued during military service and how many combatants can receive pensions.
Mobilized Ukrainians and those who serve under the contract are charged during their service, which is taken into account when retiring.
As the lawyer of the law company “Riyako & Partners” Kateryna Anishchenko told UNIAN, the length of service continues to be accrued to contractors and mobilized, provided that they have fulfilled the combat order and serve.
