Lula da Silva said that this visit did not contradict Brazil’s politics for war in Ukraine.

According to CNN Brasil, Lula da Silva said his trip was a “attempt to act as a mediator” in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and stressed that Brazil remains a peaceful peace.
“Brazil’s position is very, very, very firm. In other words, whether I came here, whether I went to China, whether I went to Argentina, whether I went to any country, our position remains unchanged about what we think about the war in Ukraine: we want peace.”
Brazil’s President also said that he came to Putin specifically “to show that Brazil is in favor of strengthening multilateral relations” and against “promoting protectionism” in the international arena.
He stated that he would continue to “hope for peace and end the conflict in Europe”, facilitating the dialogue “until both parties want peace.”
At the same time, he criticized large investments in weapons, stating that resources could be directed to other global priorities such as starvation.
Foreign leaders on parade in MoscowOn May 9, a military parade took place in Moscow on Red Square. It was attended not only by Russian President Vladimir Putin, but also by the leaders of almost 30 states, including China, Brazil, Venezuela, Slovakia and Serbia.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo found himself at the center of an international scandal after his trip to Moscow, becoming the only leader of the EU Member Country to participate in the event.
Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland have closed their airspace for Fitzo’s government aircraft, forcing him to carry a roadway through Hungary, Romania, the Black Sea and Georgia.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called Fitzo in the Parade of Shame for Europe, especially against Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. And the head of European diplomacy, Kai Callas, said Fitzo “stands on the wrong side of history” and condemned his presence near Putin during a military parade.
