According to a spokesman for the German government, the parties have agreed to “quickly resolve trade disputes”, and also agreed that the war in Ukraine should be finished as soon as possible, and that Russia should agree to ceasefire to “create space for negotiations.”
Trump has promised to maintain the efforts of Germany and other countries in Europe aimed at ensuring a sustainable peace in Ukraine.
According to the sources of the publication, the conversation of Merz and Trump lasted about half an hour.
It is also noted that the chancellor invited the US President to Germany and made it clear that he was ready to think about it.
Trump made a visit to Germany in 2017 to the G20 summit if he is not counted on the US Air Base.
Trump, in turn, invited Mertz to Washington. The German Chancellor has already said publicly, expected to go to the US in front of G7 and NATO summits in June, that is, for the next six weeks.
