Exhumation in Lades: The Polish side reported to find the remains of 42 people

In Ternopil region in the former village of Puzhniki, which no longer exists, and where search and exhumation works are ongoing, fragments of at least 42 people are found: women, men and children, informs the Polish side. In particular, this is stated in a joint statement by the Ministry of Culture of Poland, the Freedom and Democracy Foundation, the Pomeranian Medical University and the Institute of National Memory. On May 6, the stage of finding the remains of the old cemetery was completed.

After the laboratory tests, the exact number of victims, their gender, age will be reported. Researchers cleanse the found remains, carry out anthropological and medical analyzes, as well as 3D scanning, and at the same time receive samples of genetic testing material to install a person. At the request of the relatives, human remains found in dignity in the cemetery in the dusaders.

During the search, fragments of buttons, medallions, ropes were found. According to Radio Liberty, German Wehrmacht buttons were found.

Exhumation work in the Lennik Ladies of the Polish-Ukrainian group began on April 24 at the Old Cemetery, where the Poles were buried, which were killed on the night of February 12 to 13, 1945.

The exhumation work was observed by representatives of the Ukrainian Institute of the National Memory, the Interagency Commission. The Polish side brought the mobile laboratory for DNA examination found.

The work is fully funded from the budget of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.

Previously, Polish researchers emphasized that about 80 people were killed on the night of February 12 to February 13, 1945, including children and women.

Poland calls victims in the Ternopil region victims of “Volyn massacre”. In Ukraine, historians emphasize that these are victims of Polish-Ukrainian armed conflict during the Second World War. Volyn events began at the turn of 1942-1943, when the first attacks and murders of the Poles were recorded, and ended in the fall of 1944.

Exhumation work on the victims of the Volyn tragedy will begin in the beginning of the year in April. This was reported by the Freedom and Democracy Foundation. This organization found the specified burial place two years ago.

Pavel Koval, the chairman of the Polish Sejm commission in Ternopil region in Ternopil region, called “breakthrough” in Ukrainian-Polish relations in a briefing in Rzeszow.

Earlier, Ukraine and Poland exchanged lists of searches and exhumation of the remains of “victims of mutual historical conflicts”.

The Ukrainian side also allowed the exhumation works of Poland in the village of Ugli in Rivne region and in Lviv.

At the same time, Ukraine will carry out exhumation work in Poland.
