In the Donetsk region, law enforcement officers exposed and detained the commander of one of the battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who organized a scheme of systematic extortion of money from subordinates for the accrual of “combat” payments.
According to the investigation, the officer demanded that the servicemen at a monthly basis for 40 thousand hryvnias from their assigned combat allowances.
In case of refusal to pay these funds, the commander was threatened with the transfer to the infantry and departure to the most dangerous areas of hostilities.
Investigators found that only in March 2025 the commander was illegally received from subordinates 920 thousand hryvnias. The money was transferred in cash, and the transmission process itself was controlled by personally detained.
Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, detained the attacker directly while receiving another undue benefit. Representatives of the Armed Forces Command have also joined the special operation.
Prosecutors of the Attorney General’s office reported to the commander of suspicion under Article 368 (368) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – obtaining an undue benefit combined with its extortion.
The sanction of this article provides for up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The court chose a pre -trial detention facility for the suspect with the possibility of bail of UAH 49 million.
The pre -trial investigation, which conducts DBR under the SBU, is currently underway. Law enforcement officers check the involvement of others in this scheme and possible additional facts of abuse.
We will remind, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a 43-year-old resident of Mirnograd, who worked at a coal mining enterprise and handed over to the enemy the coordinates of the Ukrainian military.
We have already reported that in Nikolaev, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a 30-year-old resident who is suspected of collaboration with the enemy.
