Details: The exception will be applied to carriers and drivers of trucks that are traveling through the above mentioned countries, or if the trip had objective reasons, independent of the individual.

According to the Department of Migration, as of April 1, there were 14 652 Russian citizens in Lithuania.

The Law on the establishment of restrictive measures in connection with military aggression against Ukraine is approved by the Lithuanian Seimas suspects the acceptance of applications for Schengen and national visas from citizens of Russia and Belarus, except where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is carried out in this matter.

Applications from Russians for temporary residence permit in Lithuania are not accepted, the exception is made only for those who have a current Schengen or national visa, a residence permit in Lithuania or other EU country.

Russians and Belarusians who do not arrive across the border with the EU country are additionally checked for national security threats.

They are also forbidden to import or export Ukrainian hryvnias to Lithuania, as well as to import agricultural products and feeds of Russian or Belarusian production.

According to the law, it is forbidden to buy real estate in Lithuania.

The restrictive measures were first adopted in Lithuania in 2023. These sanctions apply until May 2, 2026.

Recently, the Lithuanian Seimas suggested to submit draft laws that forbid Russian citizens to buy housing near military and strategic sites.

In addition, the government has banned Lithuanian citizens who also have Russian, Belarusian or Chinese passports, as well as persons without Lithuanian citizenship to enter the military Academy named after General Jonas Zhemaitis.
