Transcarpathia has completed a pre -trial investigation into the head of one of the sanatoriums and his deputy, who are suspected in a large -scale scheme of illegal mineral water production.
According to the investigation, these officials, having an official license for water intake in the Mukachevo district, organized a systematic production of carbon dioxide mineral waters outside the allowed area of subsoil.
Specialized equipment was used for mass pumping, and the water received by trucks was transported to spills and sold throughout Ukraine.
From February to June 2024, they illegally produced more than 26 thousand cubic meters of mineral water, which is intended for both therapeutic and industrial purposes. The amount of losses caused to the state as a result of unauthorized use of subsoil exceeded UAH 644 million.
According to law enforcement officers, some water was sold under a well-known trademark without any reflection in the financial statements-thus sold over 12 thousand cubic meters worth over UAH 3.5 million.
Investigators reported to both officials about suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal extraction of minerals of national importance. In addition, they are charged with the waste of property in particularly large sizes under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code. Both the suspect chose a preventive measure – detention with the right to make bail.
The director of the sanatorium was also temporarily removed from office.
The indictment was agreed with the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office and sent to court for substantive consideration. In order to compensate for losses, the prosecutor’s office has filed a claim for over UAH 640 million.
If the defendants are brought in court, they are threatened with up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

We also reported that in Kiev law enforcement officers detained a 41-year-old man who made a deliberately false notice of the replacement of the school. Kiev called the special line 102 and declared an explosive at the school.
