Trader Jacob Kenfield reported the fraudulent scheme. He received a letter stylized under the official Ledger address, with a warning of “critical renewal”. The authors urge the owners of wallets to scan the QR code and introduce their SEED-Phrase, threatening the blocking of funds in case of refusal.
Kenfield suggested that the fraudsters were sending letters to the Ledger database, which had previously been accessible.
Ledger confirmed fraud, saying that the company never asks the recovery phrases and the first does not contact users on such issues.
The company urged users to be careful and not share private information with unknown.
Earlier, in December 2024, the fraudsters had already sent Ledger users phishing email about the alleged breakdown of the service to obtain their Seed phrase.
