Prystayko explained the benefits of “decisive coalitions” and its opportunities for peacekeepers

“Decide Coalition” is a mechanism that allows NATO to engage in active hostilities without dragging the fifth article and all members of the Alliance “”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org

The Decide Coalition is a mechanism that allows NATO members to bypass the Alliance bureaucracy and send us peacekeepers promptly, the diplomat said former NATO Mission Head of Ukraine Vadim Prystayko in an interview with Radio Liberty.

“First, a” decisive coalition “is a mechanism that allows NATO to enter active hostilities without entailing the fifth article and all members of the Alliance. That is, in the idea of entering the war, the North Atlantic Council must vote unanimously (32 countries – ed.) For some war. Most likely, it is in the event of an attack on the Alliance, ”he said on the air of the Freedom Live program, adding that, because of the decision of the UN Charter, each country has the right to individual or collective protection.

“Similarly, countries that are close to us are said, in particular now France and Britain, that we are ready to help form a” coalition of wishing (decisive) “… We are ready to help us .. In principle, there is no mechanism that would ban the government of Britain and the France government to approve the decision and send us peacekeepers tomorrow,” the diplomat said.

At the same time, Prystayko expressed surprise why Ukraine has not yet approved the law on the admission of French and British forces to the territory of Ukraine, as this is a legislative authority to enter their forces.

Ukrainian legislation provides that the admission of units of the Armed Forces of other states into the territory of Ukraine is carried out on the basis of international treaties of Ukraine and in the manner and on the conditions determined by the laws of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would do everything to make political decisions on the security contingent as quickly as possible, “when time will be time.”

According to The Times, Tony Radakin, Head of Defense of the UK, appealed to his colleagues with the idea to form 64,000 forces to send to Ukraine. However, the defense ministers of European countries have stated that there are no chances on a contingent of this size, and even a 25,000th contingent will require joint efforts.

The possibility of sending foreign military to Ukraine has been discussed since 2024, and in January 2025, the placement of British and French soldiers in Ukraine began to discuss more substantially the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Kir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Moscow categorically disagrees with the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine. In particular, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow did not see a compromise in the question of the potential placement of the European Peacekeeping Continent in Ukraine. According to him, it will mean “a direct, official, unconcealed involvement of NATO countries in a war against Russia.”
