A colossal figure. China will expand the satellite network to 100 thousand units

This initiative is aimed at preventing chaos in space and ensuring the sustainable development of commercial astronautics.

According to the Earth Observation Center and Chinese National Space Management Data Processing (CNSA), without effective regulation, a rapid increase in the number of satellites can lead to overflow of orbit and increased risks of collisions. To solve this problem, China plans to provide strong support for the commercial space sector, which actively develops satellite constellations.

Today, 58 satellite plants are being built or built in China, and it is expected that by the end of 2025 the country will be able to produce more than 5,000 satellites a year. Among the key projects is the G60 Starlink network from Spacecom Satellite Technology, covering 15,000 satellites, of which 648 will be launched by the end of this year. Guowang Consteli projects with 12 992 satellites and Honghu-3 are also developing with 10,000 devices.

In addition, China considers the creation of a large satellite network for communication between land and moon, capable of serving more than 20 real-time users simultaneously through text, audio and video messages.

Last week, CNSA founded an alliance of commercial space innovations to coordinate the efforts of companies and sectoral organizations. The Alliance will focus on solving regulatory standards, efficient use of resources and eliminating insufficient coordination between commercial projects. One of the tasks will be to ensure the safe interaction of the satellites in the orbit and to prevent their collision.

Particular attention is paid to the transfer of experience from public companies to the private sector as well as the creation of special “Sandboxes ” – test environments for the development of high -risk space scenarios with the subsequent rapid introduction of the obtained technologies.

China seeks not only to accelerate the development of its commercial astronautics, but also to lay the foundations for safe and stable work in orbit in the era of mass satellite deployment.
