It is noted that the former head of the energy enterprise Kateryna Reiche Merz was put forward by the Ministry of Economy and Energy, and the head of the Mediamiamarkt Concern Karsten Wilsberger – to the post of head of the newly created ministry of digitalization.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will be Johann Vadeful, who, according to the publication, “is a devoted European” and “firmly supports assistance to Ukraine in its protection against Russia’s invasion.” The 62-year-old Vadeful is also “close to the Armed Forces, as he served as a volunteer soldier in the 1980s.”
The Minister of Special Affairs and the Head of the Federal Chancellor will become Torten Fry, and the Minister of Transport – Patrick Schnider. Karin Prin will probably manage the Ministry of Education, Nina Varken will be appointed head of the Ministry of Health.
The well -known journalist and publisher Weimer will be managed by cultural and media affairs, and the Minister of Sports and Volunteers will be the Bundestag MP Christianian Shenderlain.
Bloomberg writes that the CDU has to conclude its coalition agreement with the Social Democrats at an extraordinary congress on Monday. The last step in the formation of the government should take place on May 6, when Mertz receives support from the legislators of the lower house of parliament, after which he will swear with his team.
Merz statements about UkraineAs reported earlier, UNIAN Merz promised Ukraine to Taurus so that it could hit the Crimean bridge. The future chancellor explained his intention that the position of Kiev should be strengthened and forced the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to make concessions. He stated that Kiev needed help to “move forward” on the battlefield.
At the same time, Merz opposes Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union until its war with Russia continues. “Ukraine is in a state of war. And a country of war can become neither a member of NATO nor a member of the European Union. This applies to the current moment,” the politician said.
The leader of the Christian Democratic Union plans to visit Ukraine immediately after its admission to the post of German Chancellor. As Welt and Politico wrote, Merz will represent the country during a visit to Kiev if he was elected on time. The possible trip of the new chancellor is scheduled for early May, now it is under training.
