The incident occurred at a time when Iran conducted a third round of nuclear negotiations with the United States in Oman.
According to state media reports, as of Sunday evening, fires continued to flash in different parts of the affected area, and helicopters and firefighters continued to extinguish them.
On Sunday morning, the head of the Iranian Society of the Red Crescent reported to the state media that the fire had been extinguished by 90%, and officials stated that the port activity had been restored in the unharmed parts of the Shahids of Rejaja.
It is suspected that the cause of the explosion was chemicals in the port, but the exact cause was not established.
Iran’s Ministry of Defense has denied international media reports that the explosion could be associated with improper handling of solid fuel used in rockets.
