The NATO Secretary General will convince them that the “peace agreement” cannot be concluded without taking into account the interests of Ukraine and can only strengthen Russia, the interlocutors of the publication say.

He will also emphasize that in the case of imposing Kiev “peaceful settlement”, which is primarily beneficial to Moscow, the safety of all Europe will be threatened, Financial Times adds.

“The key message is to let the Americans understand what was put on the map,” said one of NATO diplomats on anonymity.

In addition, Rutte will discuss how best to coordinate the transfer of most of the “defense” burden of NATO in Europe from the United States to European Armed Forces, FT interlocutors said.

According to the media, the Trump administration handed over to Ukraine a one -page document in Paris, which was submitted as a “final proposal” for a peaceful settlement. Among other things, the United States is ready to recognize Russia’s control over Ukrainian Crimea and weaken sanctions against Moscow.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine does not recognize the Russian occupation of Crimea, which is internationally recognized by the Ukrainian territory.

The Financial Times writes that some European officials are afraid that the differences in the unilateral project of the “peace agreement” of the Trump administration, which envisages recognition by the United States of Crimea part of Russia, will undermine transatlantic security and even break NATO at the end of June.
