No peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia should contain points that are contrary to the Constitution of Ukraine.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with the President of the South African Republic.
He also confirmed that new proposals for peaceful settlement discussed during a meeting in London have already been submitted to US President Donald Trump.
According to the Head of State, there are alternatives to the previous US initiative, which provided for the possibility of partially recognition of the occupied territories, including Crimea, part of Russia.
“After the London meeting, where the US side presented its strategy, a productive dialogue with the participation of the Ukrainian delegation, European partners and US representatives was held. As a result, specific points were formed on paper. Now this document is on the table with Trump, ”Zelensky explained.
He stressed that Ukraine is ready for the search for ways to end the war, but only under conditions that do not undermine its sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitution.
“We defend a clear position: no agreement that contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine or the fundamental values of our country cannot be subject to discussion. This is a red line that we won’t cross, ”the President emphasized.
Zelensky did not specify what formulations they contain new proposals, but emphasized that the Ukrainian side is in constant contact with international partners and ready for constructive dialogue – provided that it would not provide for concessions in favor of the aggressor.
Earlier, we wrote that on April 23 in London there were important negotiations between delegations of Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
Also, in the EU, some officials have expressed concerns that the differences in the unilateral project of the “peace agreement” of the Trump administration, which envisages recognition by the United States of Crimea part of Russia, will undermine transatlantic security and even break NATO at the end of June.
