President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a briefing.
“The Zaporizhzhia station itself does not work today. And without Ukraine it will not work. And the United States, for all respect, will not be enough (to support work of the NPP – Ed.). Our technical composition is needed. The US at the technical, at the political level, understand that if the management format of this station will go, it will only go with our technical workers, ”Zelensky said.
The head of state emphasized that if the Russian Federation leaves the NPP, and the United States will be ready to participate in the management of the station, there are a number of issues such as the safety of workers who will work at the NPP, their families, access to infrastructure, water, housing, etc.
“If this station today is specifically near Rus, and tomorrow can be under Americans, what is with people? If Americans come with us, the Russians come out, Americans are with us, we restore it together and make money on electricity, etc. – I think it’s okay. But I have never heard officially. There are many messages, rumors. Officially, I have never heard the proposals, ”Zelensky said.
According to the President, Ukraine does not oppose partnerships with the United States in a particular area of restoring the work of any infrastructure, any enterprise.
He noted that such a partnership would be possible if the US had provided the Patriot system to protect, for example, Motorschi.
“We have a motor Sich, a rocket has arrived today (the shelling of Zaporozhye – Ed.). If tomorrow they give in Zaporizhzhya Patriot, which protect the motor Sich, let them come in, and we will work together on the Sich motor. … The same with the station (OPP – ed.)
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the issues of occupied territories and a “large power plant” (obviously referred to as ZPP) were included in negotiations with the Russians.
After the de -occupation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP will take up to two years to restore its work.
