Details: The US Ministry of Justice’s website states that the ECAS system provides full immigration cases – from start to completion, keeping all related documents in electronic form.
According to The Washington Post, about six DOGE advisers working at the Ministry of Justice were permitted last Friday from the management of the department for access to ECAS.
Nevertheless, the spokesman of the ministry refused to comment on the situation, and the publication could not find out whether access was indeed provided and for what purpose it was asked.
The senior lawyer of the National Immigration Center Lynn Damiano Pearson has expressed concern that Doge attempts to access stored data can violate the right to confidentiality from both US citizens and foreigners.
Of particular alarm, she said, causes access to confidential information in the ECAS system, which is usually intended exclusively for immigrants themselves or their authorized lawyers.
Recall: In February, Doge received access to the US Finance Payment System, which processes more than $ 5 trillion a year.
