A well -known American tennis player, whose active career was in 2000–2012, shared his opinion on Podcast with Andy Roddik. Given the example of Wimbledon and explaining why it is so difficult to carry out the tournaments on the grass, Roddik told some details.
“People constantly ask why we do not have a Masters 1000 series tournaments on grass. The fact is that there are a limited number of sites.
Wimbledon is one of the few who can provide training courts, dressing rooms, parking and hospitality. There are not many herbal arenas that are able to meet these requirements necessary for the Masters Category tournament.
As for me – yes, I always wanted it. So it should be. But the courts at the end of Wimbledon are worn completely, they are literally destroyed, they are forbidden to train if you are sown.
Roger Feder, when he followed his sixth victory, could train exactly 45 minutes a day on the external courts of Wimbledon. You just do not get the opportunity to train in the central arenas as in other Great Helmet tournaments. It’s just impossible on the grass, ”Andy Rodyk summed up.
