The Government of Ukraine invited European high -ranking officials to Kiev to demonstrate diplomatic force against Putin’s annual military parade in Moscow on the same day.
About it reports Politico.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga gave an invitation to his colleagues from the European Union on Monday during a meeting in Luxembourg. He called on the participants “to demonstrate our unity and determination in the face of the greatest aggression in Europe since the Second World War.”
Separately, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would like to accept the coalition leaders on May 9 who want to “define security guarantees” for Ukraine after reaching the agreement on a possible ceasefire with Russia, Sibiga added.
The minister did not specify where this meeting will take place.
He noted that a possible visit to Ukraine is currently being discussed in early May, the heads of a number of states, in particular, the future Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, two EU diplomats reported on the conditions of anonymity.
Russian dictator Putin has already invited the leaders of Israel, China, Brazil, Slovakia and Serbia. He asks them to join him in Moscow at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
At the same time, he did not invite representatives of the US and most EU member states.
Earlier, US expansion, George Bush and then French President Jacques Shirak, was present at a military parade at Red Square in Moscow in 2005, but in recent years none of Western leaders visited the Russian Federation to celebrate the event.
US President Donald Trump does not plan to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9. Earlier, a number of media did not exclude the likelihood of such a trip.
The head of the Voice faction Alexander Ustinova believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin can agree to a temporary ceasefire to speculate on the topic of prolonging martial law, which ends in Ukraine on May 9.
And the European Union gave a clear instruction to the States who are candidates for EU joining, not to attend a parade in Moscow on May 9 and not to visit Russia.
