The President of Ukraine said this in an interview with CBS.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine never received the additional Patriot systems that were promised at NATO summit in Washington.
“I respect the US choice, but when the United States has not been given such systems or sold, we are ready for any format, the issue is not in money,” he said.
At the same time, some European partners are ready to help buy these systems financially.
“But the United States says it is not possible today. But at this time they sell such systems, such as Israel. I do not say that they are not needed Israel, but if we are partners, can I not find the opportunity to protect Ukraine?”, – the President said.
The head of the country cited different options in conversation with President Donald Trump.
“There is a Patriot system and you have a lot of them, and you have production, there are a few steps how to protect Ukraine. The number one step: one system that costs one and a half billion dollars, we are ready to buy at least ten systems to close some cities, only civilian, cities cities where there are many crowds.
The second option is licenses for the production of systems and relevant missiles, which Ukraine has requested both the current and the previous US administration.
He also mentioned the countries in the Middle East, Europe, Asia where the American Patriot systems are located, where there are no hostilities that could be transmitted to Ukraine.
“We were ready to rent them,” he said.
“Forms, how to provide a lot. The desire is required,” Zelensky added.
Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that working with other countries is underway to obtain another Patriot Air Defense system.
Also we will remind that Germany has recently handed over 30 missiles for Patriot to Ukraine and prepares further air defense systems, armored vehicles, drones and other necessary equipment.
