“There are less than a thousand Eutelsat terminals in Ukraine current”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org
According to Evelsat CEO Eve Berneke, the company has been providing Ukraine with a high -speed satellite Internet for about a year through the German distributor. The project is funded by the German government, but the cost of the Berneke’s contract did not comment.
According to her, there are less Eutelsat terminals in Ukraine currently, which is much less than about 50,000 Starlink’s terminals used in Ukraine. At the same time, she expects the amount of Eutelsat equipment in Ukraine to increase: “We now want to deliver from 5 to 10 thousand terminals as soon as possible – perhaps within a few weeks.”
When asked if Germany is financed the supply of additional terminals, Eutelsat spokeswoman Joanne Darlington answered that this issue is still being discussed.
Earlier it was reported that in March the European Union considered the possibility of partial replacement of the Starlink system in Ukraine with the help of a similar network of Eutelsat Communications SA, a French company that has the second largest portfolio of low -orbital satellites after SpaceX.
Eutelsat specializes in satellite communication, including television broadcasting, broadband Internet and other telecommunications services in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. During the full -scale war, the company also provided Ukraine with satellite communication channels and broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels.
