The commission answered the request of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, which considered the case of mobilization of the church of the Seventh -day Adventist Church.
The Ukrainian courts have ruled that the manifestation of religion or beliefs does not remove the obligation to defend territorial integrity from foreign aggression.
The Venice Commission, analyzing international legislation, concluded that the abandonment of military service may not be completely excluded. The refuser cannot be forced to use weapons, even for the country’s self -defense.
Men’s military service abroad from 18 to 60 years will be able to take military registration remotely, without visiting the CCC and passing the medical commission, the deputy head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said on Facebook.
