The DBR employees, with the assistance of the National Police DSR, reported the suspicion of four participants of an organized group who illegally cut down the forest in the territory of Brusturian forestry in the Transcarpathian region.
The equipment was organized by the head of the Brusturian forestry. He involved three subordinates – two forest masters and a leading forestry engineer.
Forest management standards stipulate that thinning felling is carried out among trees under 40 years of age with a frequency of 5-10 years.
However, two forest masters, which were included in the timber for logging, completed the head of the manager and carried out the removal of four sites for logging, which were not supposed to fall under the felling.
The leading engineer in violation of the requirements prescribed a logger ticket, which was subsequently issued for felling.
As a result, in March 2023 – April 2024, 1 thousand 369 trees of spruce and beech were illegally cut down. According to the results of the examinations, the amount of damage caused to the environment caused by illegal felling is more than UAH 12 million.
All participants of the equipment were informed of suspicion of illegal logging by exceeding their official powers, which caused grave consequences (Part 4 of Article 246, Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of articles provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years.
