Representatives of Livan and Syria defense agencies have agreed the ceasefire to stop the fights along the common border, which have been ongoing for two days.
About it reports The Times of Israel.
Syria’s Ministry of Defense specified that the agreement also provides for “Increasing coordination and cooperation »between the parties.
Earlier, on March 17, Livana President Joseph Aun ordered the Lebanon’s Defense forces to respond to the fire from the Syrian side of the border, after intense fighting renewed. The Lebanon Ministry of Health reported that seven people were killed as a result of collisions, another 52 were injured, including a four -year -old girl.
The conflict began after the Provisional Syrian government accused the Livan fighters of the Hezbolla group of crossing the border, abducted three soldiers and killed them in Lebanon on March 15.
Hezbolla denies its involvement, and some messages indicate local clans in the border region, which, although not directly related to the group, participate in smuggling. These clashes became the most serious cross -border fights since December, when the events began in Syria that led to the overthrow of Bashar Assad.
The situation in the Middle East remains unstable. After the fall of Assad regime, political and security situation intensified in Syria. The new administration, headed by Ahmed Al-Sharaa, is trying to establish relations with the West, while Assad supporters continue armed clashes with the new government, which died 48 on both sides. Religious clashes in the country also continue.
